March 15, 2025 – The National Youth Parliament Association of Antigua and Barbuda (NYPAAB) is deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic murder of 9-year-old Chantel Crump. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and all who are mourning this senseless loss. No child should ever fall victim to such violence, and we call upon the authorities to ensure that justice is swiftly and firmly served.

This tragedy comes amid the alarming disappearances of three adults in recent times. The growing concern for the safety and security of our citizens, particularly our children, demands immediate action. As a nation, we must take a stand against these horrifying crimes and work collectively to prevent further incidents.

NYPAAB strongly urges law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in their investigations and bring those responsible to justice. We also call upon the government and all relevant stakeholders to implement stronger policies that prioritize the safety of our youth. This includes more extensive public awareness campaigns, school programs that teach children how to recognize and report potential threats, and community initiatives aimed at fostering safer environments.

It is imperative that as a society, we reinforce protective measures and equip our children with the knowledge and tools they need to safeguard themselves. We encourage parents, guardians, and educators to engage in open discussions with young people about personal safety and awareness.

NYPAAB remains committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of young people in Antigua and Barbuda. We stand in solidarity with the family of Chantel Crump and the loved ones of those who remain missing. Let this be a wake-up call to all that more must be done to protect the most vulnerable members of our society.

We urge all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. If you see something, say something. Together, we can work towards a safer and more secure future for all.
