Ambassador Boris Latour has voluntarily resigned from his diplomatic post to clear his name amid allegations he categorically denies, describing them as part of a malicious campaign to undermine his reputation.

Appointed in 2023, Latour served as Antigua and Barbuda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador to France, and Permanent Representative to UNESCO in Paris and Vienna.

A statement issued on his behalf emphasizes that he was not dismissed but chose to step down to demonstrate his innocence.

Latour, described as an honorable individual, a highly successful entrepreneur, and a distinguished diplomat, is said to be the victim of a “deliberate and longstanding” effort to discredit him. The allegations, which have surfaced in the media, are firmly rejected as “fake news,” with the statement asserting that they are entirely baseless. It further claims that the accusations are part of a broader misinformation campaign motivated by malice.

“All legal avenues will be pursued to defend his rights and preserve his honor,” the statement declares, reinforcing Latour’s determination to counter what his representatives consider to be false claims.

The statement also stresses the fundamental principle of the presumption of innocence, arguing that attempts to tarnish reputations without verified facts should not go unpunished.
