Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda held talks Tuesday with Uma Kumaran, the United Kingdom’s parliamentary under-secretary of state responsible for the Caribbean, as preparations intensify for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua and Barbuda.

The Sept. 15 meeting was part of Browne’s diplomatic engagements during a visit to the United Kingdom. It followed separate discussions with British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband.

Browne and Kumaran discussed the upcoming summit and renewed their commitment to ensuring its successful staging.

Commonwealth leaders and senior officials are scheduled to gather in Antigua and Barbuda from Nov. 1-4 for talks on issues facing the 56-member organisation.

The conference will be held under the theme, “Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth.”

Hosting CHOGM is expected to give Antigua and Barbuda a prominent role in Commonwealth diplomacy while creating opportunities to strengthen international partnerships and attract investment.

The latest talks also reflect continued coordination between Antigua and Barbuda and the United Kingdom as preparations for the high-level meeting enter their final stages.
