ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — The Catholic Diocese of St. John’s-Basseterre is celebrating the 13th anniversary of the episcopal ordination of Bishop Robert A. Llanos, marking more than a decade of his service as a bishop in the Catholic Church.

Llanos was ordained a bishop on Sept. 14, 2013, at Fatima Roman Catholic Church in Curepe, Trinidad and Tobago, after being appointed auxiliary bishop of Port of Spain.

The diocese marked the anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving at Holy Family Cathedral in Antigua, recognizing Llanos’ ministry, leadership and service to the church.

Llanos’ connection to Antigua and Barbuda began in 2016, when he was appointed apostolic administrator of the Diocese of St. John’s-Basseterre and took up residence in Antigua. He was appointed bishop of the diocese in December 2018 and installed at Holy Family Cathedral in February 2019.

The diocese, which encompasses several islands in the northeastern Caribbean, described the anniversary as an opportunity for Catholics to give thanks for Llanos’ leadership and pray for his continued ministry.

The anniversary coincided with the Catholic observance of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
