The Rotary Club of Antigua has reaffirmed its commitment to education and youth development through the presentation of a cheque valued at EC$10,000 to the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus (UWIFIC) as part of the Club’s Scholarship Programme and its ongoing partnership with the institution.
The cheque was officially presented to Ms. Adeola Matthew, Manager of the Student Retention and Success Unit within the Office of the Campus Registrar at The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus, Antigua and Barbuda during a brief presentation ceremony at Rotary House.
This contribution will assist deserving students in accessing higher education opportunities and supports the shared vision of both organizations to empower young people through academic achievement and personal development.
Speaking on behalf of the Rotary Club of Antigua, President of the Rotary Club of Antigua, Mrs. Elisa Graham noted that education remains one of Rotary’s key areas of focus and an essential investment in the future of Antigua and Barbuda.
“The Rotary Club of Antigua is proud to continue its partnership with the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus through this scholarship contribution. We believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for transforming lives and strengthening communities. This donation reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting students as they pursue their academic and professional aspirations,” she said.
The RCA President also expressed gratitude to the Scholarship Committee led by Past President Dr. Vanetta Rodgers and Past President Dr. Errol Samuel for their continuous dedication and commitment in bringing the initiative to fruition. She also extended her thanks to Rotarians Nabia Burton and Yasmine Ephraim who also form a part of RCA’s Scholarship Committee.
Ms. Matthew expressed appreciation for the Club’s continued support, highlighting the positive impact that scholarship assistance has on student success and retention.
