The Hadeed family has paid tribute to the life and legacy of Sir Aziz Fares Hadeed, KCMG, CBE, describing him as a beloved patriarch whose lifelong dedication to service, leadership and community development left an indelible mark on Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Caribbean.

In a statement following his passing on 23 May 2026 at the age of 79, the family thanked the public for its continued prayers, love and support as they remembered “a life dedicated to making a difference”.

“We honour and celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy of our beloved patriarch, Sir Aziz Fares Hadeed, KCMG, CBE,” the family said.

Sir Aziz was widely regarded as one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most influential businessmen and philanthropists. As Executive Chairman of the Hadeed Group of Companies, he helped build one of the Eastern Caribbean’s largest corporate conglomerates, contributing significantly to economic growth and employment across the region.

Beyond the business sector, Sir Aziz was recognised for his commitment to education and national development. He served as the inaugural Chairman of the Council of the University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus from its establishment in 2019 until his death. His leadership was credited with helping to advance higher education opportunities for future generations of students in Antigua and Barbuda and across the Caribbean.

The family noted that Sir Aziz dedicated his life to creating opportunities for others and strengthening communities through service and generosity.

Throughout his lifetime, Sir Aziz received numerous honours for his contributions to national development, commerce and public service. In 2016, he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE). Earlier this year, he was elevated to Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George (KCMG), one of the highest honours awarded for public and international service.

Sir Aziz was also recognised as a diplomat, public servant and advocate for community development, with his influence extending beyond the private sector into education, philanthropy and civic life.

The Hadeed family said his legacy of integrity, compassion and service would continue to inspire those who knew him and benefited from his work.

As tributes continue to pour in from across Antigua and Barbuda and the wider Caribbean, Sir Aziz is being remembered as a transformative leader whose contributions helped shape the nation’s business landscape and support the advancement of education and community development.
