The U.S. military says it killed four people in an Oct. 4 strike on a suspected drug-trafficking boat in the Caribbean.
U.S. Southern Command said Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere carried out the strike under its direction, targeting a high-speed vessel travelling along what it described as established drug-trafficking routes.
In a statement posted on its verified Facebook account, SOUTHCOM said intelligence confirmed the vessel was actively involved in drug trafficking. It described those killed as “narco-terrorists.”
The statement did not identify the four people or disclose the precise location of the strike. It also provided no details about the vessel’s origin, destination or the type and quantity of drugs allegedly aboard.
SOUTHCOM did not release the intelligence underlying its claims in the statement.
