Students from Freemanville Primary School and Seaview Farm Primary School joined forces for a day of music, creativity and learning during “One Stage, Infinite Rhythm – A Celebration of Music Education.”
Held at the Freemanville Primary School compound under the theme “Keep Music Alive in Schools,” the October 2 event provided students with opportunities to explore different areas of music while showcasing their talents.
The initiative was organized by Music Teacher Kezzary David, who said the programme was designed to highlight the importance of music education and provide young people with a platform to discover and develop their abilities.
Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of interactive sessions, including choir, guitar, recorder, steel pan, djembe drumming and marching band. Dance classes were also facilitated by the Antigua Dance Academy.
The activities allowed students to gain hands-on experience with instruments and other forms of artistic expression while interacting with instructors and fellow students.
The programme also included a poem competition between the two schools, with Seaview Farm Primary School emerging as the winner.
Adding to the excitement were special guest performances by local soca artistes Peetron Thomas, De General and Dior, who entertained the students and encouraged them to continue developing their creative talents.
Support for the school’s music programme also came from Bona Petit, also known as Bone Appetite, who made a presentation and donated drums to assist with the continued development of music education at the school.
David expressed gratitude to the principals and teachers of both schools, as well as parents, sponsors, facilitators and other supporters who contributed to the success of the event.
The initiative formed part of an ongoing effort to ensure that music remains an important component of education and provides young people in Antigua and Barbuda with opportunities to learn, perform and develop their talents.
