Antigua and Barbuda Prime Minister the Hon. Gaston Browne has ended a demanding but productive period of engagements in New York, meeting with a range of diplomatic partners, political leaders and development agencies on substantive matters of importance to his nation and the broader region.

Among his major engagements earlier in the week was a bilateral discussion with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Joining him at the meeting, held on the margins of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81), was Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs the Hon. E.P. Chet Greene.

Prime Minister Browne engaged His Excellency on a number of crucial areas that would strengthen bilateral cooperation across a number of sectors, including trade and the tourism industry, both crucial development priorities for Antigua and Barbuda.

During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the strengthening of cooperation with Antigua and Barbuda “to advance the mutual interests of both countries and promote the prosperity of their peoples.”

Also at the meeting was Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the State of Kuwait Mohamad el Zohbi and First Secretary in the Permanent Mission to the United Nations Asha Challenger.

The UAE delegation included Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade and Omar Shehadeh, Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the Caribbean and Pacific States.
