AL92 Has 80% Chance of Becoming Tropical Depression Within Two Days
A tropical wave midway between the Lesser Antilles and the west coast of Africa has an 80% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours.
The system, designated AL92, is producing showers and thunderstorms that are showing signs of organization.
Environmental conditions are expected to support further development, and a tropical depression will likely form within the next day or two as the disturbance moves west to west-northwest across the central tropical Atlantic.
However, upper-level winds are forecast to become too strong for further development as the system approaches the Lesser Antilles this weekend.
The chance of formation remains at 80% through both 48 hours and seven days.
