Two attorneys representing a group of Venezuelan individuals and companies met with Speaker of the House Sir Osbert Frederick and Attorney General Sir Steadroy Benjamin on June 22 to discuss complaints involving BOI Bank Corporation.

According to a statement issued by the attorneys, Lucas Rodriguez Alvarez and Jose Gregorio Sanchez Bueno presented information they said was provided by clients who have raised concerns about the operations of the financial institution.

The attorneys said they are seeking the involvement of authorities in Antigua and Barbuda and requested that the government examine matters relating to the bank.

The statement said the purpose of the meetings was to ask the Government of Antigua and Barbuda to initiate an investigation into BOI Bank Corporation.

No response from the Attorney General’s Chambers or any indication that an investigation has been launched was included in the statement. The allegations outlined by the attorneys have not been independently verified.
