Air Peace has denied any connection to online advertisements and social media campaigns that allegedly encourage pregnant women to travel to Barbados to give birth and obtain citizenship-related benefits, describing the material as unauthorized and misleading.

In a statement issued on June 21, the Nigerian airline said it has never advertised, endorsed, or facilitated travel for the purposes suggested in recent online publications and social media posts.

The company said its Barbados service has been promoted as a route supporting business, tourism, trade, education and cultural exchange between Africa and the Caribbean.

“Air Peace Management wishes to categorically state that the airline has no involvement whatsoever in any advertisements, social media campaigns, or online promotions encouraging pregnant women to travel to Barbados for the purpose of giving birth or obtaining citizenship benefits,” the statement said.

The airline also sought to distance itself from an individual featured in content circulating online, stating that the person is not an Air Peace ambassador, employee, representative, influencer or affiliate.

According to the company, any advertisements, videos or promotional material linked to the controversy were not authorized, sponsored or approved by the airline and do not reflect its policies or marketing strategy.

Air Peace noted that, like other commercial carriers, tickets are sold through travel agencies, online booking platforms and official sales channels, and the airline does not have prior knowledge of passengers’ personal circumstances, including pregnancy status, before standard check-in and travel documentation procedures.

The carrier said it remains committed to operating in compliance with aviation, immigration and destination-country regulations while focusing on strengthening connectivity between Africa and the Caribbean.

Air Peace urged members of the public and the media to rely only on information published through its official communication channels.
