Two horses have disappeared from a farm in Big Creek after intruders reportedly breached the property overnight, prompting an appeal for public assistance.

Farm owner Chantelle Winter said she discovered that someone had cut through a fence to enter the property before taking two horses. She also reported finding a trap on the farm.

The incident has raised fears for the animals’ safety, as Winter said horses stolen from the farm in the past were later recovered with injuries, signs of abuse and permanent scarring.

The missing animals are a red chestnut male gelding standing about 16 hands high and a chestnut female with a blonde mane and tail standing about 14 hands high.

Winter is urging residents, farmers and members of the public to be on the lookout for the horses and to report any information that could help locate them.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Chantelle Winter at 268-720-1171 or the nearest police station.
