A security guard narrowly avoided what police believe was an attempted robbery after an armed, masked man confronted him on the grounds of a Cassada Gardens business early Sunday.
The incident occurred around 1 a.m. at a property on Utility Drive, where the guard had been resting inside his vehicle.
Investigators say the assailant, described as a slim, dark-skinned man standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall, allegedly smashed a passenger-side window with a cutlass before dragging the guard from the vehicle and demanding access to the building.
A confrontation followed as the guard resisted. The suspect was reportedly also carrying a knife and a screwdriver.
According to reports, the guard was able to break free, push the attacker away and leave the compound.
No injuries were reported.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are seeking to identify the suspect.
