Antigua and Barbuda has secured hosting rights for the Test match leg of the West Indies’ 2026 home series against Sri Lanka following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the government and cricket authorities.

Sports and Creative Industries Minister Dwayne George signed the agreement confirming that the two Test matches will be played at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound.

The first Test is scheduled for June 25-29, 2026, while the second will be played from July 3-7. A four-day warm-up match is also set for June 18-21 at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.

George described the agreement as another step in the government’s efforts to expand sports tourism and strengthen Antigua and Barbuda’s reputation as a destination for major international sporting events.

He said the series is expected to generate increased visitor arrivals, create economic opportunities for local businesses and provide international exposure for the country through global cricket broadcasts.

The minister noted that hosting international cricket continues to play an important role in the country’s tourism and economic development strategy.

The Ministry of Sports and Creative Industries said it will work closely with Cricket West Indies, local stakeholders and regional partners to ensure the successful staging of the series.

The matches will mark another major international cricket event for Antigua and Barbuda, which has long been recognized as the home of Caribbean cricket and the birthplace of cricket legend Sir Vivian Richards.
