ABCA Congratulates Shawnisha Hector on Selection to West Indies Women’s T20 World Cup Squad
The Antigua and Barbuda Cricket Association (ABCA) has congratulated Shawnisha Hector on her selection to the West Indies Women’s squad for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
In a statement, the association praised Hector for earning a place in the regional team, describing her inclusion as a significant achievement for both the player and Antigua and Barbuda cricket.
Hector was named among a 15-member squad that will represent the West Indies at the global tournament in England. She joins a team led by captain Hayley Matthews and vice-captain Chinelle Henry.
Ahead of the World Cup, the West Indies Women are scheduled to compete in the Evora Women’s International Tri-Series in Ireland from May 28 to June 3, where they will face Ireland and Pakistan.
The team will then travel to England for two warm-up matches, taking on India on June 8 and Australia on June 10 before opening their World Cup campaign against New Zealand on June 13.
Hector’s selection continues Antigua and Barbuda’s representation at the highest levels of international cricket and reflects her progress within the regional women’s game.
The West Indies squad also includes Aaliyah Alleyne, Shermaine Campbelle, Jahzara Claxton, Deandra Dottin, Afy Fletcher, Jannillea Glasgow, Zaida James, Qiana Joseph, Mandy Mangru, Ashmini Munisar, Karishma Ramharack and Stafanie Taylor.
The 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will bring together the world’s leading women’s cricket nations in England later this year.
