Chattabox Responds to Public Dispute Over Outstanding DJ Payment
Event promotion company Chattabox has issued a public statement addressing allegations surrounding an outstanding payment connected to its Saint Kitts J’Ouvert event, saying the matter has already been discussed with the individual involved and that payment is expected to be completed by mid-June.
In a statement released Thursday, the company acknowledged recent public comments regarding the unpaid balance and said it had communicated directly with the DJ involved.
According to Chattabox, the outstanding amount is expected to be paid as early as June 5 and no later than mid-June.
The company said the DJ has worked with Chattabox since 2019 at events in Antigua and Saint Kitts and has been consistently booked and paid over the years.
“This DJ has worked with Chattabox since 2019 across both Antigua and Saint Kitts events, and over the years has been consistently booked, supported, and paid for every event,” the statement said.
Chattabox also addressed questions surrounding its upcoming Antigua events, explaining that it decided to book only DJs who were available to perform at both its T-shirt Mas and J’Ouvert events.
The company said it was informed that the DJ in question might not be available for the T-shirt Mas event and subsequently chose not to proceed with bookings for either event. Chattabox said that decision was communicated before the recent public allegations were made.
While acknowledging that business decisions can be disappointing, the company said it believes private vendor disputes should not be presented in a misleading manner or used to generate public pressure.
“Chattabox has always honored its commitments, and this situation is no different,” the statement said.
The company also suggested that the controversy may be linked to increased competition within the events sector, claiming that attempts were being made to damage the brand as it enters a new competitive environment.
Despite the dispute, Chattabox said it remains focused on delivering upcoming events and promised additional announcements regarding its lineup and activities through its official channels.
