Community Holds Candlelight Vigil for Three Missing Urlings Fishermen

Residents of St. Mary’s South gathered on Thursday night for a candlelight vigil and prayer service in honor of three fishermen from Urlings who remain missing at sea.

The community came together in solemn reflection to remember Devon Prince, also known as “Grease Gun,” Adrian Pryce, known as “Ivan,” and Carlton Pitt, called “Nagamootoo.”

Candles were lit as residents offered prayers, sang hymns, and stood in solidarity with the families and loved ones of the missing men.

The emotional gathering highlighted the close connection between the Urlings community and the sea, which has long been a source of livelihood and tradition for many residents.

“We stand with the families, friends, and the entire Urlings community during this difficult time,” organizers said in a message shared following the vigil.

The tribute also expressed hope for strength and comfort for those awaiting news about the fishermen, while honoring the men as “sons of the soil” who would not be forgotten.
