Minister of State in the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries and the Blue Economy Randy Baltimore says collaboration and support for farmers and fishers will be key priorities as he officially began work in his new role.

Baltimore said Monday marked his first day on the job, during which he joined Agriculture Minister Anthony Smith Jr. in meetings with the ministry’s Permanent Secretary and technical staff.

According to Baltimore, discussions focused on strengthening the systems that support the agricultural and fisheries sectors while advancing the ministry’s development goals.

“The meeting focused on collaboration, development, and strengthening the systems that support our farmers, fishers, and the wider agricultural sector,” Baltimore wrote in a social media post.

He added that he looks forward to working closely with the ministry’s team to build sustainable opportunities and continue advancing the sector for the benefit of the country.

The appointment comes as the government continues efforts to expand food security initiatives and strengthen Antigua and Barbuda’s blue economy sector.
