    Safe Sleep Awareness Campaign for Infants Begins This Week

    The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre is partnering with the Prices and Consumer Affairs Department to roll out the second annual Safe Sleep Initiative aimed at increasing public awareness about safe sleep practices for babies.

    In a notice to media houses, organizers said the initiative will use media engagement, live demonstrations and public education campaigns to provide families with consistent information on reducing sleep-related risks for infants.

    Media organizations have been asked to feature daily safe sleep tips as part of the campaign schedule.

    The themes include:

    • “Pacifier 1” on Monday, May 11
    • “Pacifier 2” on Tuesday, May 12
    • “ABCs of Sleep” on Wednesday, May 13
    • “Avoid Smoking Around Your Baby” on Thursday, May 14
    • “Surface-Sharing” on Friday, May 15
    • “No Positioners or Wedges” on Monday, May 18

    Organizers said the initiative is intended to strengthen public education efforts and encourage safer sleep environments for infants across Antigua and Barbuda.
