All Saints East and St Luke, long regarded as a stronghold of the United Progressive Party (UPP), is expected to be a closely contested seat in the upcoming general election.

Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Lamin Newton is mounting a challenge against Opposition Leader Jamale Pringle, who represents the constituency.

The seat has been held by the UPP for more than 30 years, making it one of the party’s safest. However, Mr Newton says support on the ground is shifting.

Speaking after the ABLP’s campaign launch on Tuesday, he expressed confidence that momentum is building in his favour.
