    Magnitude 4.7 Earthquake Recorded North of Antigua

    A magnitude 4.7 earthquake was recorded Thursday evening in the northern Leeward Islands region, according to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre.

    The quake occurred at 6:46 p.m. local time at a depth of 10 kilometres and was located approximately 236 kilometres north-northwest of Antigua and Barbuda.

    It was also measured about 209 kilometres north of Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, and 263 kilometres north of Brades, Montserrat.

    There were no immediate reports of damage or impacts in Antigua and Barbuda.

    The Seismic Research Centre noted that the event was automatically generated by computer algorithms and remains preliminary, with details subject to revision following further analysis.
