The Ministry of Tourism and Investment hosted a special staff team-building dinner on Saturday, February 21, in an evening dedicated to honouring its past, celebrating its present and shaping its future.

The event brought together members of staff in a spirit of appreciation and camaraderie, while paying tribute to five retirees whose years of dedicated service have significantly contributed to the growth and development of the tourism industry.

Among those honoured was Terrance Charles, who served the Ministry for 21 years, along with Phillip George, who gave 23 years of service. Carlene Gilkes was recognized for her seven years of contribution, while Paula Claire Joseph was acknowledged for five years of service. Naomi Elizabeth Mason, the longest-serving retiree honoured on the evening, was celebrated for her remarkable 43 years of commitment to the tourism sector.

Collectively, the retirees represent nearly a century of institutional knowledge, dedication and professionalism that helped strengthen the Ministry’s work and advance the country’s tourism product.

Mr. Sean Cenac, Permanent Secretary within the Ministry of Tourism and Investment, expressed sincere gratitude to the honourees for their lasting impact on the Ministry and the wider industry, while also underscoring the importance of unity among current staff members.

“Our retirees have played an integral role in building the foundation of the tourism industry as we know it today,” Mr. Cenac said. “Their years of commitment and excellence in service have positioned our sector for continued growth. As we honour their legacy, we must also look ahead. Strengthening unity and collaboration among our team is essential as we work together to drive innovation, improve performance and advance sustainable tourism development. Our collective efforts will shape the future of this Ministry and the industry we serve.”

The dinner also served as a timely reminder of the value of teamwork and shared purpose as the Ministry continues to pursue strategic investment opportunities and initiatives aimed at strengthening the tourism sector.

As the Ministry moves forward, it does so grounded in the achievements of the past and strengthened by a renewed commitment to collaboration, excellence and service.
