Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism sector is set to gain a new luxury boutique resort with the planned 2026 opening of MoonGate Hotel and Spa on the island’s east coast.

Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez recently visited the development at Half Moon Bay, where he was briefed on construction progress and said the project would strengthen the country’s high-end and eco-luxury tourism offering.

Designed with sustainability at its core, the resort combines contemporary architecture with environmentally responsible features, aligning with growing demand for environmentally conscious travel.

Phase one of the project is nearing completion and will include 47 suites, ranging from standard and premium units to penthouse accommodation. A second phase will add 22 one- and two-bedroom luxury suites.

Facilities will include restaurants and bars, landscaped gardens, swimming pools, a fitness centre and a full-service wellness spa.

The development is expected to create more than 120 jobs for Antiguans and Barbudans. Mr Fernandez said projects such as MoonGate reflect a shift towards quality, sustainability and long-term economic benefit in the tourism sector.
