A young Antiguan cricketer has been drafted into the West Indies Under-19 squad as the team prepares for the final two matches of their series against England in Grenada.

Eighteen-year-old leg-spinner Micah McKenzie arrived in Grenada earlier this week after leaving the Leeward Islands Hurricanes camp in Trinidad, where he was competing in the CWI Super50 tournament. Cricket West Indies says he is available for selection for today’s match at the Grenada National Stadium and for the series decider on 1 December.

McKenzie has been in strong form this year, topping the bowling charts in the CWI Breakout Lead competition with 12 wickets, before taking 14 wickets for the Leeward Islands in the CWI Under-19 tournament.

He is joined by fellow late call-up Shamar Apple of the Guyana Harpy Eagles, who will also be available for the final two fixtures.

The reinforcements come as the West Indies U19s hold a narrow 3–2 lead in the seven-match series, with the final outcome still in the balance.
