CID, TickeTing Investigating Stolen Card Scheme Linked to Carnival Tickets

— Ticketing platform TickeTing says it is working with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate an alleged scheme involving the use of stolen credit and debit card information to purchase event tickets, warning that all tickets linked to the fraud will be confiscated.

In a public statement issued Friday, the company said it has spent the past several weeks monitoring the transaction activity of specific individuals accused of using stolen card details to buy tickets and other items for themselves, friends, family members and for resale.

The company said that while similar incidents have occurred in the past and were often handled privately, it now believes criminal prosecution is the appropriate course of action.

TickeTing warned that anyone who obtained tickets from the individuals under investigation — whether purchased or received free of charge — will have their TickeTing account blocked and all associated tickets immediately confiscated.

According to the statement, the restrictions will prevent affected users from signing in, resetting passwords, transferring or accepting tickets, or using any tickets on their accounts. The company said account blocks will remain in place until each case is reviewed individually.

The company urged anyone who believes they may have unknowingly received fraudulent tickets to contact its support team or the CID directly.

TickeTing also advised members of the public to purchase tickets only from trusted individuals and cautioned against buying tickets from strangers through social media marketplaces or community groups, saying such transactions carry a high risk of fraud.

The company further reminded the public that card fraud is a serious criminal offense, warning that mobile applications and other technologies can help investigators identify suspects despite attempts to conceal their location or identity.
