Politician and community activist Emanuel Peters marked Teachers’ Appreciation Day by serving meals and paying tribute to more than 175 educators and staff members from three schools in the St. John’s Rural East area.

Peters visited Ottos Comprehensive Secondary School, Golden Grove Primary School and Mary E. Pigott Primary School, where teachers and staff were treated to lunch and refreshments as part of the celebrations.

In posts shared on social media, Peters described the day as a meaningful opportunity to recognize educators for their contribution to national development and the shaping of future generations.

“At Ottos Comprehensive Secondary School today alongside some of the school’s alumni and principal, especially Queen Singing Althea,” Peters said, he spent time serving “all 93 teachers plus” at the institution.

He also praised the efforts of teachers at Golden Grove Primary School, where he said more than 40 educators were celebrated.

“Teachers dedicate their lives to shaping minds, building confidence, and inspiring the next generation,” Peters wrote. “Teachers deserve to feel special, valued, and appreciated every single day.”

At Mary E. Pigott Primary School, Peters said it was “an absolute honor and pleasure” serving teachers and staff members across the three schools.

“Today we celebrate the incredible educators who pour their hearts into shaping futures, inspiring greatness, and making a lasting impact every single day,” he said.

Peters added that despite what he described as limited resources, he intends to continue supporting and appreciating teachers in the community.

The events formed part of activities held across Antigua and Barbuda to recognize educators for their service and dedication on Teachers’ Appreciation Day.
