The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission has reported continued progress in its voter identification card replacement programme, with more than 31,900 applications processed to date.
According to the Commission’s latest official report for April 2026, a total of 8,558 replacement applications were completed during the month, contributing to an overall cumulative figure of 31,909. Weekly data for 19–25 April shows 1,606 applications processed, alongside 178 new applications.
Completion rates vary significantly by constituency. St Peter recorded the highest level of progress, with 92% of its eligible applicants processed. Other strong performers include St Philip North (76%), St Philip South (73%), and All Saints West (71%).
By contrast, several constituencies remain closer to the 60% mark, including St John’s City West, St John’s Rural West, and St Mary’s North. The lowest completion rate reported was 60%, seen in both St John’s Rural South and St Mary’s North.
The week of 19–25 April showed a gradual decline in daily processing volumes after a peak earlier in the period. The highest daily total was recorded on 20 April with 393 applications, followed by 335 on 21 April. Activity then tapered to 73 applications by 25 April.
Despite the slowdown, officials noted consistent engagement across most constituencies. St John’s Rural West recorded the highest weekly total with 168 applications, followed by St George with 165 and St Mary’s North with 153.
Barbuda, the smallest constituency, reported 19 applications for the week, maintaining a relatively high overall completion rate of 79%.
The Commission continues to encourage eligible voters to complete the replacement process, as several constituencies remain below two-thirds completion.
Officials say the programme is essential to maintaining an accurate and secure electoral register ahead of future polls. They have not yet announced a deadline for completion but indicated that outreach efforts will continue in lower-performing areas.
The data suggests steady, if uneven, progress nationwide, with authorities aiming to close remaining gaps in the coming weeks.
