LETTER: Barbuda Youth Voter Calls for Shift Beyond Land Debate Ahead of Election

    Dear Barbudans,

As a young woman who grew up in an “all green” household, where land has always been the topic of discussion in our home especially around election time

I am fed up completely fed up with the hearsay, the confusion, and especially the endless drama that surrounds this topic. Enough is enough. Land alone cannot feed us, land alone cannot build a future, and land alone cannot secure the next generation.

While some of you keep arguing and holding on to the same old narratives, the younger generation is being left behind. We are the ones who have to live with the consequences no real opportunities, no proper development, and no clear direction forward. There have been so many opportunities (Scholarships, YWIL,Youth Parliament etc.) That have presented itself to me, but my parents would have my neck if I dare accept anything from ABLP.

It’s time to wake up and think bigger. Think about our future. Think about our health. Think about what we are actually leaving behind for the next generation. Sitting down and accepting the same cycle over and over again is not helping anyone.

Barbuda people, wake up! Stop settling. Stop being distracted. It is time for a serious, bold change. The future depends on it.

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!.

    A First Time Barbudan Voter
