The Department of the Blue Economy has launched a mural and poster art competition for children aged 7 to 11 as part of activities marking Ocean Month 2026.

The initiative, announced in collaboration with the Ministry of Education’s Education Broadcasting Unit and other partners, invites young creatives to depict their interpretation of the blue economy through art, highlighting themes such as marine life and ocean conservation.

Organizers said the competition is designed to inspire creativity while raising awareness about the importance of oceans and marine ecosystems.

The winning artwork will be transformed into a public mural, giving the selected participant a lasting contribution to the community.

Submissions opened on April 13 and will run until May 7. The winner is scheduled to be announced on June 8, in observance of World Ocean Day.

Entries can be submitted via email or delivered in person, with participants encouraged to review official guidelines before submitting.

The department is urging parents, teachers and guardians to support children’s participation, describing the competition as an opportunity to nurture the next generation of artists, innovators and environmental stewards.
