Matthew Rose, 25, and Byron Cross, 46, are in hospital after being shot during a gun attack in the Collins area on Tuesday evening.

Police say the two men were walking along Collins Road at about 7:30 p.m. when they were approached by two masked men, who opened fire before fleeing the scene.

Mr Rose was shot once in the back, with the bullet lodging in his abdomen, while Mr Cross sustained a gunshot wound to his right cheek.

Both men were taken to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre and are reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators have not released a motive for the attack and say inquiries are continuing. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them or Crimestoppers.
