A man who admitted to stealing items from a Bendals Road supermarket has been ordered to pay fines and compensation after appearing in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that groceries and automotive products were taken from First Best Supermarket on November 8, an incident captured on surveillance cameras showing two men leaving the store without paying. The items included a bottle of engine oil, cooking oil, and a pack of Huggies diapers.

Police later arrested Crosbies resident **Toby Bowen** in the Gray’s Farm area, and he pleaded guilty to one count of larceny.

Magistrates issued a $300 fine, giving him one month to pay or face 15 days in prison. Bowen was also ordered to compensate the supermarket owner within seven days, with a one-week custodial sentence if he fails to do so.
