Prime Minister Gaston Browne says his sister Blondell Browne’s graduation is a source of personal pride and an example for adults in Antigua and Barbuda who have yet to pursue higher education.

“I was extremely proud to see her collecting her certificate today,” Browne said during his radio broadcast.

Reflecting on their difficult childhood, Browne said his sister had previously been the sibling whose formal education had not extended beyond secondary school.

“She has corrected that now,” he said.

He described her as determined and said her achievement showed that people who missed earlier educational opportunities could still advance academically.

“When I look at my sister, Blondell, for example, and many more people, they have the ability to get a degree. They just didn’t have the opportunity,” he said.

Browne encouraged adults with the ability to pursue university studies to consider doing so, linking his sister’s achievement to his broader appeal for residents to take advantage of higher education opportunities in Antigua and Barbuda.

The prime minister also congratulated Senator Colin O’Neal and other graduates during the broadcast.
