Three women are now in police custody following reports of the theft of more than $3,000 worth of merchandise from a store at Pigotts Mall in Antigua and Barbuda.

The women, previously described in reports as Jamaican nationals residing in Antigua, were the subject of a public appeal for assistance in identifying and locating them.

According to an earlier report, the business alleged that surveillance footage showed the women working together during two separate visits, distracting a salesperson while merchandise was stolen.

Images from the store’s surveillance system were circulated as part of efforts to identify those involved.

The women are now reported to be in custody. It is not yet clear whether formal charges have been laid.

Police have not provided further details about the investigation.
