Prime Minister Gaston Browne has called for the prize in Antigua and Barbuda’s National Performing Arts Theatre logo competition to be doubled from $2,500 to $5,000.
Browne made the recommendation Saturday as competition details were being read on the Browne and Browne Show, urging Minister Rawdon Turner to increase the award.
“You should put a 5,000, man,” Browne said.
“Our intellectual capital doesn’t come cheap, you know. You have to pay for it, Mr. Turner.”
The presenter said a message would be sent to Turner. No confirmation from the minister that the prize had been formally increased was provided during the exchange.
The competition is open to Antiguan and Barbudan nationals of all ages, at home and abroad, with an announced submission deadline of Oct. 15. AI-generated content is prohibited.
Each participant may submit one logo, along with a short description explaining the design concept and how it reflects the theatre’s theme.
Entries must include the final logo in PNG and PDF formats, in both full colour and black and white, together with the editable source file.
Designs will be judged on creativity, relevance, clarity and overall impact. The winning logo will become government property.
Browne also suggested extending the submission period, but no revised deadline was announced.
