A tropical wave expected to move off the coast of western Africa on Wednesday has a 30% chance of becoming a cyclone within seven days, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center’s Tuesday afternoon outlook.

The center said gradual development is possible as the system moves northwest across the far eastern Atlantic. Its chance of formation within 48 hours is near zero.

The center advised interests in Cabo Verde to monitor the system, warning that gusty winds and heavy rain could reach the islands by the end of the week. The outlook does not identify a threat to Antigua and Barbuda.
