Queen of Carnival 2025 Kia Kirwan will represent Antigua and Barbuda at the inaugural Miss Afrikana International pageant in 2027.

The international organisation introduced Kirwan as “Miss Afrikana Antigua and Barbuda 2027” on its official social media pages, saying she will carry the country’s flag with cultural pride, creativity and a commitment to community.

Kirwan brings significant regional pageant experience to the competition. During her reign, she represented Antigua and Barbuda at four regional pageants and finished among the top contestants in three. Her achievements include placing first runner-up at the 2026 Miss OECS Pageant in Dominica, where she also secured two segment awards.

Miss Afrikana International was founded by Ghanaian beauty queen, entrepreneur and advocate Abena Akuaba Appiah, who won Miss Grand International in 2020.

The competition was created to celebrate women of African descent from Africa, the Caribbean and the wider diaspora. Organisers say it will focus on beauty, culture, intelligence, leadership, heritage and community service.

Expected competition areas include cultural presentation, evening gown, talent or creative expression, interview and public speaking, and a community-impact project.

The inaugural pageant is scheduled for Nov. 11, 2027. However, organisers said the host city and venue have not yet been announced.

Kirwan’s selection was confirmed by the Miss Afrikana International organisation, while additional details about the event are available on the pageant’s official website.
