Workers at Kennedy’s Hardware have taken industrial action amid a dispute with management over union representation and workplace concerns.

The action involves employees at the company’s All Saints Road location and its Newgate Lane outlet.

The workers, most of whom are women, have raised concerns about their working conditions, job descriptions, workloads and other issues affecting their day-to-day duties.

They have selected the People’s Union to serve as their bargaining agent and are seeking discussions with management to address their concerns.

However, the workers allege that management has refused to meet or engage with representatives of the union.

The dispute has now resulted in industrial action as employees press for their concerns to be addressed and for their chosen union to be recognised in discussions with the company.

Management has not yet publicly responded in detail to the workers’ allegations but said it plans to issue a statement on the matter later Monday.
