Prime Minister Gaston Browne says he is considering legal action over an article by United Progressive Party Chairman Gisele Isaac that he believes may have defamed him.

Speaking Saturday on the Browne and Browne Show, Browne alleged that Isaac wrote that “the Cabinet and Gaston Browne will get back to its usual job of laundering money.”

Browne denied involvement in money laundering or other corrupt activity and said Isaac had no evidence to support such a claim.

“When they’re using the word corruption, use generic terms. Don’t put my name in there, otherwise I’m going to sue you,” Browne said.

The prime minister said he intended to locate the article, determine whether the statement was defamatory and possibly forward it to his attorney.

“I’m going to try and find it,” Browne said. “You all can advise me if it’s defamatory, and we’ll just send it to my lawyer.”

Browne did not say that a lawsuit had already been filed. Isaac has not been quoted responding to his remarks.
