The Minister of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), Utilities and Energy, the Honourable Melford Nicholas, officially announces the appointment of Mr. Girvan Piggott as Director of Energy within the Ministry effective August 1st, 2026.
Mr. Piggott brings more than twenty years of professional experience in the energy and utilities sector, having served with distinction as a Project Engineer at the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA). Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in the planning, implementation, and management of several critical infrastructure projects that have contributed to strengthening Antigua and Barbuda’s energy sector.
Minister Nicholas formally introduced Mr. Piggott to members of the Ministry’s Energy Unit during a welcoming meeting, emphasizing the importance of collaboration as the Ministry advances national energy priorities.
“Mr. Piggott’s technical expertise, leadership experience, and commitment to public service make him an exceptional addition to the Ministry’s leadership team. His appointment comes at a critical time as we continue advancing renewable energy initiatives, energy security and sustainable development for Antigua and Barbuda,” Minister Nicholas stated.
As Director of Energy, Mr. Piggott will provide strategic leadership for the Energy Department, guiding the implementation of policies and programmes aimed at improving energy efficiency, expanding renewable energy opportunities and supporting the Government’s vision for a resilient and sustainable energy future.
The Ministry looks forward to Mr. Piggott’s contributions as it continues to modernize the nation’s energy sector while delivering reliable, affordable and sustainable energy solutions for all citizens.
