Heavy-duty truck drivers employed by the Ministry of Works have returned to work after temporarily blocking access to the ministry’s compound on Tuesday morning in protest over outstanding payments.

The industrial action ended after workers met with the ministry’s management, which said it had addressed the employees’ concerns and assured them that the issues raised were already being actively dealt with.

In a statement, the ministry thanked the workers for their commitment and reaffirmed its support for staff as it continues its infrastructure development programme across Antigua and Barbuda.

The protest briefly disrupted access to the Ministry of Works compound on Denry Lane after government vehicles were used to block the entrance. Normal operations have since resumed following the meeting between management and employees.
