Five artists from Antigua and Barbuda, members of the QBG (Quay and Barracks Art Galleries) Collective, introduced Canadian audiences to the destination’s vibrant and creative culture this past weekend, with their work featured at the annual Polo for Heart fundraiser in Toronto, Canada, sponsored by the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA).

The collection, by Glenroy Aaron, Heather Doram, Kelly Hull, Stephen Murphy and Dylan Phillips, featured a diverse range of contemporary works inspired by Antigua and Barbuda’s landscapes, people and everyday life, offering guests an authentic glimpse into the nation’s thriving artistic community.

“What we intended to do with this event was to highlight the depths of talent in these two beautiful islands,” said Tameka Wharton, Director of Tourism for Canada.

“Our artists are among Antigua and Barbuda’s greatest representatives and by bringing their work to spaces like Polo for Heart, we give international audiences an opportunity to connect with the cultural tapestry which makes our destination so unique.”

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority’s Canadian office hosted a destination-themed experience, “Polo in Paradise,” during the multi-day Polo for Heart fundraiser.

Guests enjoyed Antigua and Barbuda specialty cocktails, authentic cuisine from the twin-island nation including the national dish fungee and pepperpot, saltfish and fried dumplings, music by local artistes, colourful carnival costumes and immersive destination branding that transformed the venue into a celebration of culture. A couple’s stay at the boutique Curtain Bluff Resort, was also donated for the silent auction.

The ABTA used the opportunity to promote Antigua and Barbuda Art Week, the fourth edition of which will be held November 11 to 18 this year.

Over a dozen experiences and exhibitions will be taking place that week, spanning, visual arts, music, fashion, open galleries, special exhibits and public art experiences.

Polo For Heart is Canada’s largest and longest-running charity polo event, dedicated to raising funds for important healthcare initiatives while delivering unforgettable polo experiences and entertainment. Over the years, the event has raised significant funds for hospitals and charitable organizations while becoming a beloved summer tradition.

Canadian professional wrestler, WWE Hall of Famer and fitness model Trish Stratus was among the attendees at the Polo for Heart fundraiser picnic on Sunday.
