St. Nicholas Primary School captured first place in the 2026 National Spellbound Championship, which concluded with an awards ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in partnership with Caribbean Union Bank.
According to the Ministry, Greenbay Primary School finished second overall, while Old Road Primary School placed third.
The championship also recognized the top individual performers. Tayzhoni Murrain emerged as the individual champion after advancing through the competition’s championship round.
Shalaya Powell secured second place, while Denny Joseph of Freemansville Primary School finished third.
Education officials praised participants for demonstrating strong spelling skills and academic excellence throughout the competition.
The National Spellbound Championship is an annual event that brings together primary school students from across Antigua and Barbuda to compete in spelling and vocabulary challenges.
The Ministry congratulated all participants and schools that took part in this year’s competition.
