Grenada’s Red Walters delivered a commanding performance to capture the OECS Elite Men’s Championship at the 2026 ABWU Invitational and OECS Cycling Championships, leading a day of competition that brought together riders from across the Eastern Caribbean.

Walters completed the five-lap race in 2:21:40.790 and recorded the fastest lap of the day at 44.29 kilometres per hour. Antigua and Barbuda’s Jyme Bridges finished second, while Tahje Browne claimed third. Dominica’s Kohath Baron narrowly missed the podium, crossing the line less than a second behind Browne.

The result highlighted the strength of regional cycling, with competitors from Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines featuring prominently among the top finishers.

Antigua and Barbuda riders dominated the Invitational Elite Men’s race, sweeping the podium. Robert Marsh of East Side Riders secured first place, followed by Abbiel Fleming in second and Jaleel Cannonier in third.

The OECS Junior Men’s Championship was won by Grenada’s Tristun Viechweg, who finished ahead of Anguilla’s Kamari Ruan and Ephraim Hughes-Hodge.

In the Masters A division, Samuel Talbot of the British Virgin Islands claimed victory, with Desron Bynoe of St. Vincent and the Grenadines taking second place and Antigua and Barbuda’s Jason Adams finishing third.

Anguilla riders controlled the Masters B category as Craig Emmanuel captured first place and Patrick Niles secured second. Antigua and Barbuda’s Paul Smith rounded out the podium in third.

Grenada also earned top honours in the OECS Juvenile Championship through William Meyerer, while Antigua and Barbuda’s Elite Thomas finished second after completing all three laps of the course.

The Cadets 11-14 division was won by St. Vincent and the Grenadines rider Sage Williams, the lone competitor in the category to complete the two-lap event.

Antigua and Barbuda riders again featured prominently in the Sports Class category. Eldon Farquharson claimed first place, Dexter Simmons finished second and Anguilla’s Carl Thomas placed third.

Cyclists from Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Dominica, Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia competed on the challenging 19.046-kilometre circuit, contesting honours across several age groups and divisions.

The federation also thanked the Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union, sponsors, officials, volunteers and participating teams for helping to stage the event.
