Daquan George of Sutherlands has been sentenced to four years in prison after police uncovered a large cache of ammunition and firearm-related items at his home during a 2025 search operation.
George, who did not hold a firearm licence, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. Justice John Spencer imposed a four-year sentence on the ammunition charge and two years for possession of the firearm and magazines, with both sentences to run concurrently.
Police from the Guns and Gangs Suppression Unit searched George’s home on July 31, 2025, and found 140 rounds of ammunition of various calibres, six firearm magazines and a pen gun inside a bag in a washroom. George admitted the items belonged to him.
He told investigators he had found the bag along a shortcut weeks earlier and initially planned to sell the contents before later deciding to throw them away.
