_ROTARY CLUB DONATES RENOVATED CLASSROOM TO YOUTH INTERVENTION UNIT_
The Rotary Club of Antigua has officially handed over a newly renovated classroom facility to the Youth Intervention Unit of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.
The partnership project forms part of Rotary’s continued commitment to youth development and community service in Antigua and Barbuda.
Valued at approximately EC$28,000, the project involved extensive refurbishment works, including repairs to the roof and ceiling, upgrades to lighting and bathroom facilities, repainting, and general restoration of the building. The classroom was first renovated by the Rotary Club in 2016.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, Rotary Club President Ms. Elisa Graham said the organization recognizes the importance of the Youth Intervention Unit in assisting vulnerable young people through rehabilitation, education, and personal development opportunities.
Former President Mr. Paul Ryan also reaffirmed the Rotary Club’s commitment to ensuring that young people are not left behind, but continue to receive the support, guidance, and opportunities needed to succeed.
Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers welcomed the partnership and praised the Rotary Club for its meaningful investment in the nation’s youth. He emphasized that policing is not solely about enforcement, but also about prevention, mentorship, and helping young people find positive alternatives.
Commissioner Jeffers further encouraged greater community involvement in supporting the Youth Intervention Unit through mentorship, training, counselling, and other forms of assistance for at-risk youth.
He also commended the efforts and contributions of Inspector Claudina Nathaniel-Morgan, retired Sergeant Randy Christopher, the contractors, Rotary members, and all others who helped to ensure the successful completion of the project.
The ceremony concluded with prayers and an official tour of the renovated facility.
