Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda on Wednesday convened the first Cabinet meeting of the Government’s new term, delivering a strong message of accountability, unity, humility and service to the people of Antigua and Barbuda.
Addressing ministers and Ministers of State, Prime Minister Browne emphasized that the renewed mandate entrusted to the administration carries an even greater responsibility to deliver tangible improvements in the lives of citizens and residents.
The Prime Minister underscored that the Government’s focus will remain firmly centered on improving roads, expanding access to reliable water distribution, accelerating housing development, strengthening healthcare and education, and improving overall public infrastructure throughout the country.
Prime Minister Browne called on all ministers to demonstrate “stellar and excellent leadership,” noting that the administration has both the experience and capacity to be remembered as one of the most effective governments in the nation’s history.
“The people are looking for results,” the Prime Minister stated. “We must work with purpose, intensity and discipline to ensure that we continue improving the living standards of our people.”
During the meeting, Prime Minister Browne stressed the importance of accountability and performance across all ministries, making clear that inefficiency and underperformance will not be tolerated. He urged ministers to remain actively engaged with their ministries, constituencies and communities, while maintaining regular communication with citizens.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of humility and grassroots engagement, encouraging ministers and parliamentarians to remain accessible and connected to the people who elected them.
Senior members of the administration echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiments, encouraging younger ministers and parliamentarians to continue developing their leadership, communication and governance skills while remaining grounded in service to the people.
Prime Minister Browne further emphasized the need for unity within the governing team, warning against internal division and individualism. He reiterated that the administration’s strength has always been rooted in collective leadership and a shared commitment to national development.
The Cabinet also discussed strategies to deepen community engagement through more frequent outreach initiatives, constituency meetings and town hall engagements aimed at strengthening participatory governance.
The Prime Minister encouraged all members of the administration to prioritize their health and well-being to maintain the energy and focus necessary to effectively manage their responsibilities.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by Cabinet members to work diligently and collaboratively in advancing the Government’s development agenda and delivering meaningful progress for the people of Antigua and Barbuda.
