    Parliament to Meet This Month for Swearing-In of MPs, Senators and Throne Speech

    Governor General of Antigua and Barbuda Sir Rodney Williams Delivers the Speech from the Throne on November 20, 2025 at Parliament /Screenshot ABS

    The Hon. Attorney General informed the Cabinet of the following dates for the meeting of the Upper and Lower Houses of Parliament:

    18th May – Lower House of Parliament will meet to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House. Elected members will also be sworn in during the sitting. The Government will put forward Osbert Frederick as Speaker and Dr. Philmore Benjamin as Deputy Speaker

    20th May – The Upper House of Parliament will meet to elect the President of the Senate and Deputy President. Senators will also be sworn-in during the sitting. The Government will put forward Alincia Williams-Grant as President and Philip Shoul and Deputy President.

    26th May – His Excellency the Governor General Sir Rodney Willilams will present the Speech from the Throne.
