_POLICE STATEMENT ON BOMB THREAT AT THE POLICE HEADQUARTERS_
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda
The Police Administration is reporting that at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Monday, April 27, an anonymous phone call was made to the Police Headquarters indicating that an explosive device had been planted within the building.
As a precautionary measure, immediate evacuation procedures were activated, and all occupants were safely evacuated from the premises.The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team, assisted by K-9 explosive detection unit, conducted a thorough search of the building and its surrounding areas.
However, no device or any item of an explosive nature was discovered. An “all-clear” was subsequently given, and normal operations have since resumed.
The Police Administration strongly condemns this act, which caused unnecessary alarm and disruption, and is reminding the public that such actions are treated as serious offences.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched an investigation into the matter.
