The Ministry of Education has expressed deep sorrow at the passing of educator Sherilyn Martin, describing her as an “extraordinary” teacher whose influence extended well beyond the classroom.

In a tribute, the ministry said it joined the Clare Hall Secondary School community in mourning Martin, who served as Head of Business and died after a period of illness.

“Mrs. Martin was, in every sense, an extraordinary educator and an exceptional human being,” the statement said, noting her work as an accomplished teacher, dedicated professional and inspirational leader.

The ministry highlighted her commitment to education and her students, saying she devoted herself “wholeheartedly to the advancement of education and to the success and growth of her students.”

Martin was also remembered for her character and the impact she had on those around her.

“Mrs. Martin possessed a rare and genuine kindness that made all who encountered her feel acknowledged, respected, and valued,” the ministry said. “She carried herself with grace and humility, earning the deep admiration of her colleagues, the affection of her students, and the respect of all who had the privilege of working alongside her.”

Officials said her passing represents a significant loss to her family, the Clare Hall Secondary School community and the wider education sector.

“The void she leaves behind is profound, yet her legacy endures in the countless young lives she shaped, the colleagues she encouraged and uplifted, and the unwavering standard of excellence she consistently embodied,” the statement added.

The ministry extended condolences to her family and the school community, offering prayers for strength and comfort during the period of mourning.

“May the soul of Mrs. Sherilyn Martin rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to be a source of blessing, inspiration, and strength to all whose lives she so profoundly touched,” the ministry said.
